Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Cryptotips.com collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It is written to meet the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, and the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011, also known as the ePrivacy Regulations.

Cryptotips.com is the data controller for the personal data described below. You can reach the controller at [email protected] for any data-protection request.

What personal data we collect

We collect the smallest amount of data we can to run the site. Specifically:

  • Analytics data. Pages visited, approximate country (derived from IP, never stored at full resolution), referring site, browser type, device type, and time on page.
  • Preference cookies. Your chosen colour theme (light or dark) and language. Set only after you give consent through the cookie banner.
  • Contact data. The email address and message body if you write to us, sign up to the newsletter, or submit a correction.
  • Server logs. IP address, request timestamps, and user-agent strings, kept by our hosting provider for security and abuse monitoring.

We do not collect special-category data, we do not run profiling, and we do not use automated decision-making.

Third parties who process data on our behalf

The following processors handle data for Cryptotips.com under written agreements that meet Article 28 GDPR. We have signed Standard Contractual Clauses with any processor outside the European Economic Area.

  • Hosting and CDN: Cloudflare. Stores server logs and serves the site. Some Cloudflare edge processing happens outside the EEA under SCCs.
  • Analytics: A privacy-respecting analytics provider that anonymises IP addresses and stores aggregate data within the EEA.
  • Email and newsletter: Our email provider stores newsletter subscriber addresses within the EEA.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertisers. We do not run third-party advertising on this site.

Affiliate links and operator cookies

When you click an outbound link to a casino or sportsbook, that operator may set cookies on its own domain to track the referral. Those cookies are set by the operator, controlled by the operator, and governed by the operator's privacy policy. They are not on cryptotips.com and we have no access to the data they collect. Affiliate links are marked sponsored in the page source.

How long we keep your data

  • Analytics: aggregated and retained for 14 months, then deleted.
  • Server logs: 30 days.
  • Support and editorial emails: 24 months, or until you ask us to delete earlier.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: for as long as you are subscribed; unsubscribe is one click and is honoured immediately.
  • Cookie consent records: 12 months from the date you gave consent, after which we re-prompt you.

International transfers

Most of our processing happens within the European Economic Area. Where data leaves the EEA, transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, supplementary technical measures (encryption in transit and at rest), and a transfer-impact assessment we keep on file.

  • Access. Get a copy of the data we hold on you.
  • Rectification. Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Erasure. Ask us to delete your data, subject to legal retention duties.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within one calendar month, extendable by two further months for complex requests, in line with Article 12(3) GDPR. We may ask you for proof of identity to make sure we send the data to the right person.
